California the Land of Misfit Republicans

A friend of mine, a fellow Conservative Republican down in Los Angeles, the always lovely Shirley Husar, host of "Hip Hop Republican", wrote a column today on Facebook

California the Land of Misfit Republicans

In the Christmas special television story of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, we loved to watch over the years, there was a place called “The Land of the Misfit Toys.” Well, if you are wondering where this Land is in 2011, try California. On the television special, they met a prospector named Yukon Cornelius who was obsessed with finding silver and gold. Now it appears that every four years, Mr. Prospector comes to the Golden Land of California. Last year he was a black prospector who came and told the Minions stories hoping to gain Gold Nuggets and Power from the “Lands” of the Kingdom’s Republican Committee. That Man always asks us for the Gold in our pockets, so every four years he sends a new Prospector asking the same questions, selling us the same old “bag of rocks.” Everyone in the Land and beyond knows we have big Gold Nuggets, and even though the Land’s Territories have Fifty-Five gleaming Gold Bars in the Land’s vault, the Prospector focuses on the Gold Nuggets because he knows there is “no way in Hell” he can get those gleaming Gold Bars.

The Land’s California Misfits (CM’s) can’t get the key to open the Vault causing the Candidates who run for office to always lose and never live to see another day. California Misfits attempt to create future Leaders who mysteriously “Go Ghost.” What is a Ghost? Ghosts are the Misfit’s Candidates we will never see again due to the outcome of not winning their races in the Minion’s Territories, so they just quit and disappear. Now even though the CM’s have put in Gold Nuggets and Time to support their quest of winning the race, the “Misfit-backed Candidates” lose all Hope in the Territories and “Go Ghost,” running back into their “Hole,” never to be seen again.

Building name recognition in this Land is “the Key” to winning the gleaming Fifty-Five Gold Bars. Yet being a Candidate of the California Misfits in the Land of political campaigns can be physically and mentally challenging, more than in other Lands. On the other hand, it is also a personally rewarding opportunity to become more involved in your community and build your name if you plan on staying in the land of “California Misfits,” win or lose. Nevertheless, if you have never been involved in a political campaign before, launching your own bid for Secretary of State or the local school board can initially be a bit intimidating. As a black woman native to the land of the “California Misfits,” I can tell you that if you are a practitioner of traditional manliness, you already possess most of the qualities that a “successful political California Misfit needs.” However, the Minions need the Candidates to enter the race with the understanding that if you want to personally see the rewards from this Land; you have to stay involved in your local community rain or shine and “build your name” recognition.

This Land of California is full of “Republican Misfits” who want to impress the Prospector with fundraiser dinners and show all the Gold in their pockets. In return, the Prospector takes many photos and gleefully accepts Nuggets under-the-table just to seal the deal. The Leader of the Misfits assures the Prospector that when Santa Claus comes to town, “We will be ready, and We will get that ‘Key to the Vault’ this time!” Just remember to put all of us on Santa Claus’ guest list of special opportunities for the ones who gave the bigger Nuggets.

In 2012, We will all see the New Santa Claus who comes to town with a “new bag of rocks” to bless California. The better Hope for California Republican Party in 2011 is that they keep their “old bag of rocks,” and build up their own “Land” so that we can regain the major Lost handed us in 2010. That Man has enough of our Gold Nuggets, and the Minions want to see Santa Claus and the Man help build and give towards Territories in California that we have never seen win local Seats. If those Republican Candidates win or lose a Seat, at least they can feel the support from the “Top to the Bottom” of the Kingdom. Sometimes you have to lose to win in the ongoing game of politics. Building the name and respect of the Candidates is “the Key” to winning the Seats of public trust.
